even though some things/places are cooling down, i’m heating up and reviving the indigo.
and even though i have a tree full of persimmons and love how they can create such a lovely dye, I can never bring myself to cut them green and not enjoy eating and sharing their deliciousness. plus a squirrel family has taken a liking to them.
Ah, Beautiful! The only Japanese word I know without thinking is ‘kaki’: persimmon.

I have this sort of Persimmon tree also, and am curious about how to make the dye. The squirrels and raccoons have a lovely time with the ones I can’t reach!

traded some for some fresh rosemary with which to roast some walnuts.
the squirrels are eyeing the walnuts…i can feel their eyes through the window…

The Persimmon is beautiful. I’m wondering about dyeing with cranberries. They made such a beautiful mess on my stove this Thanksgiving, I wanted to stop cooking and see about dyeing with it!

My goodness me, I had no idea that indigo could be revived by heating. Where might I find instructions for how to do this please?
