for some reason, i have been oblivious to the fact that apparently, while i thought wordpress was ad-free, occasional ads appear to select visitors to my blog. WTH? maybe i am the last person to figure this out and really am living in LA-LA Land or something, but when i went to renew my blog subscriptions (which cost about $100 a year) they were trying to sell me something called No Ads for $30 a year.
they say:
We sometimes display discreet advertisements on your blog—this keeps free features free!
The ad code tries very hard not to intrude on your design or show ads to logged-in readers, which means only a very small percentage of your page views will actually contain ads.
To eliminate ads on your blog entirely this is the upgrade you want.
So, I am just wondering, how many of you, if any, see ads when you visit my blog? either leave me a comment or email me separately. i guess this is why lots of people move to wordpress.org. CONTROL!
also, i am going to let my video upgrade lapse until i figure out what i want to do- i can just store everything on youtube for now- not doing many videos right now anyway. but you’re probably seeing ads there already since i have a free account and i am not monetizing any of it. honestly, i am just too busy working to manage all this nonsense.
that’s all i have time to say today-
I’ve never noticed any blatant advertising on your blog. I get the RSS feed and click here from there.
HuGGs!

Ditto to what Debi said above. Other blogs I visit have tons of ads – hate that!

so far so good. i’m not interested in spending the extra $30 but i don’t want a blog with ads. if that were the case i’d make it so i was making a few cents.
bad enough i see “related” ads on my FB pages. and from businesses i prefer not to deal with or from others selling to my customers who can afford to buy google ads. such is the world these days.

I don’t remember seeing any. I know I do see them on some blogs. It is a turn off for me. I always thought this was a choice!

If there are any ads, I just ignore them, so I honestly can’t say I’ve ever seen any.

I’ve never noticed any. Some people have tons and I hate that, and notice them right away. Save your money. I know what you mean about too busy to manage the nonsense that’s why I have no blog. LOL But man do I appreciate you and others. I try to show my gratitude by supporting you thru your sales and buying a thing or two. Makes one want to shift companies just for the con game they try to play.

Never seen anything Glennis. And would ignore it anyway…. the stuff you blog about and the art you produce are so amazing that any ads will melt away into nothingness….

I can’t say that I have ever seen any ads on your site. So I wouldn’t worry about it. Not yet anyway. Personally I think that if you are paying for your blog, “no ads” should be part your regular fee not extra (otherwise you could just leave them and go with a free service).

Glennis,
I didn’t see any ads when I came today, but I can say that belonging to WordPress.org is really worth it. I have three blogs, all with dedicated URLS (good for branding).
With WordPress.org you get more themes and much more design flexibility. I’m actually trying to convince Keith @ Hand/Eye to move to WordPress.
Best,

you are probably right about wordpress.org -just don’t have the time to devote to making changes like that right now. i may enslave one of my kids who will be home from college for the summer to do stuff like that for me.

I do not see any ads, but we use Firefox with ad-block, so I am not a good sample.
I am so sorry to hear about your stolen work, and pleased to hear you seem to be winning.
