more madness

today i have made a deal with myself to finish up the large organza suspension. or at least finish the wire work. i feel as if i am obsessed with this and eager to start another. i have a whole bolt of the organza leaning up against the wall here. one thing i notice is that the slightest breeze turns this piece into a kinetic sort of piece which is a pleasantly appealing feature but perhaps limiting as well in considering where one might install the thing. that’s assuming that it ever sees the light of day.
for me, there is something rebellious about making something so non commercial. being someone who has supported a household by making things to sell my ENTIRE life it does freak me out a bit. i tell myself i deserve it, like one might reward ones self with a square of extra dark chocolate. part of me is afraid that i won’t want to go back to making ribbons and flowers and lovely little frivolities that retail for under $25. ahhh….but who am i kidding?
