Pasadena Bead & Design Show

view from the pole- all wrapped up, ready to push. this fabric was sent to me all the way from Norway from
Emily who dreamt of seeing this spotted vintage kimono silk lining as shibori.
I base dyed it on a pink passion afternoon, folded it and wrapped it onto the pole for discharge.

Credit for this colorway inspiration goes to Karren Brito as Purple Passion was the first color I dyed using the recipe from her book. Beyond that, it was pole wrapped, discharged and overdyed using a variety of colors.

This ribbon was done down the length of the pole creating cross-wise pleats much like bomaki. Currently, I’m only making this ribbon for my own work as it simply takes too much time to produce in larger amounts. As you can see, it takes LOTS of wrapping.
